Every year, our school holds the Girl Scout Investiture for the Junior Scouts, Star Scouts, and Twinklers. This year, the ceremony was held last October 10 at 8:30 in the morning at Niña Maria Learning Center. An officer from the Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Ms. Lydia A. Pacaldo, led the investiture ceremony.
The program began with the entrance of colors, followed by the investiture of the Twinklers. During that time, an unexpected earthquake occurred with a magnitude of 7.4 and an epicenter in Davao Oriental. It was felt in Cagayan de Oro City with an intensity of 4 (moderately strong). Thankfully, everyone was safe, and the Twinklers had already completed their part and were sent home.
The program continued smoothly since everything was already prepared, and the officer was presented. The Star Scouts recited their Scout Promise and Law, then performed their ritual, which included singing, dancing, and the magic carpet activity to welcome the new members. Afterward, the Junior Scouts took over the program with the lighting of candles and the pinning ceremony, where they received their caps and handkerchiefs.
The event ended with the ritual dance, a certificate of appreciation for the officer, and the retiring of colors. Despite the unexpected earthquake, the Girl Scout Investiture was successfully held and became a memorable experience for everyone.
