On November 28, 2025, the students, teachers,
and staff of Niña Maria Learning Center joyfully celebrated National Reading
Month. The program was hosted by Teacher Lorna Mae Escabosa of Kinder 1 and
Teacher Estela Dalman of Kinder 2.
The celebration began promptly at 9:00 a.m. with an opening prayer led by Grade 3 student Matthew Vince Sasuman. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem, led by Grade 5 student Ivan Lee T. Dela Peña. Afterwards, Teacher Rodelle A. Guzman, the Grade 1 teacher, delivered the welcome remarks.
With the first part completed, the
presentations officially commenced.
The first presenters were the Kinder 1 pupils, who recited the poem “On My
Way to School Today,” highlighting the students’ morning routines before
going to school.
Next were the Kinder 2 morning and afternoon
pupils with their presentation “Useful Thing,” which emphasized the
importance of taking care of valuable and helpful objects.
The third group, the Grade 1 morning and afternoon students, energized the audience with their lively dance performance “Soap Bubble.”
Following them were the Grade 2 students, who
presented “Clouds,” a poem celebrating clouds, the sky, and the beauty
of nature.
The seventh presenter was Grade 5 pupil Cialia
Viel Marie E. Villacorte, who delivered “Oh Captain, My Captain!” by
Walt Whitman—an emotional poem rich in metaphor and meaning.
The eighth presentation featured the Grade 3
pupils performing “Civilization vs. Savagery,” a role-play exploring the
literary theme contrasting organized societies with primitive human instincts.
Finally, the Grade 6 – Maisonneuve class
concluded the program with “Musical Play” or “Epic the Musical,”
a dramatic role-play about gods and goddesses. Their performance blended
moments of sadness, excitement, and a heartwarming finale.
To formally close the celebration, Teacher
Mavette Japay, adviser of Grade 4 – De Landrevie, delivered the closing
remarks. The closing prayer was then led by Teacher Kaye Villarico, adviser of
Grade 5 – Richelet.
Reading Month may be over, yet NMLC’s
commitment to nurturing readers and dreamers will always remain.
