Nourishing Young Minds: A Celebration of Nutrition Month

Nutrition Month is celebrated annually every July in the Philippines. It is a national campaign that focuses on promoting healthy eating habits, making food choices, and raising awareness about the importance of nutrition.

At Niña Maria Learning Center, the entire school community came together to celebrate Nutrition Month through fun and educational activities. Each class, from Kinder 1 to Grade 6, participated in cooking healthy meals, cutting vegetables, playing games, and enjoying a picnic. The Sisters of the Company of Mary graciously served as our food tasters, checking if the food we prepared was delicious and well-made.

Kinder 1 and Kinder 2 prepared simple snacks such as salad and egg sandwiches. Grade 1 students proudly made their own banana peanut rolls. Grade 2, with the support of their parents, prepared bananas with sprinkles, oatmeal pancakes, and cucumber juice. After cooking, they enjoyed a picnic and watched a movie together. Grade 3 focused on coloring and cutting vegetables, while some students demonstrated how to make vegetable salad. Grade 4 created colorful and nutritious fruit salads. Grade 5 took on the task of cooking lumpia, and Grade 6 prepared a healthy serving of chop suey. Each activity allowed students to engage in hands-on learning while enjoying the value of nutritious meals.

The Nutrition Month celebration at Niña Maria Learning Center was a success, fostering teamwork, creativity, and healthy living. Through fun and interactive activities, the students not only learned how to prepare simple and healthy meals but also discovered the importance of proper nutrition in their daily lives. With smiles on their faces and new knowledge in their hearts, the students walked away not just full, but fulfilled. It was truly a celebration that nourished both the body and the mind.
