Nina Maria Arts Hub Officially Welcomes SY 2024-2025

During the visit to the ODN Sisters in Cagayan de Oro City, Sr. Cristina Tamura ODN, the Superior of ODN-Asia Province, and Sr. Yoshie Takagi ODN, a Provincial Team member, were able to spend a few hours with the Niña Maria Arts Hub scholars and their parents last September 14, 2024.

It was also an opportune time to invite the Lestonnac Animators. A few came, along with Xavier University students who expressed interest in dedicating a part of their weekend to holding activities with the children.

The scholars prepared a simple but beautiful program that also allowed Srs. Cristina and Yoshie express their impressions and sentiments about the newness they discovered during their visit. What made the occasion more significant is that this school year marks the 10th anniversary of the Lestonnac Animators’ engagement with the Indahag Habitat community where the scholars reside.

As we look forward to officially opening the Nina Maria Arts Hub activities in the second week of October, we are grateful for what we have become as a community of volunteers, collaborators, and beneficiaries.  What started as a simple desire to reach out to children and youth survivors of Typhoon Sendong directly at a relocation site has come this far. What a heart-warming experience watching the current scholars grow and develop their confidence and self-worth after reviving the arts hub and its activities two years ago.  They can now showcase their talents with confidence and pride and even successfully organize such an activity themselves.
