Niña Maria Learning Center Pupils Honor Escoda and Discover Jiu jitsu

On September 19, 2025, the pupils of Niña Maria Learning Center (NMLC) experienced a meaningful day filled with honor, discipline, and inspiration. The school first celebrated the Escoda Memorial and afterwards gathered to witness a Jiu jitsu Martial Arts Demonstration.
The day began with the Escoda Memorial, where Kindergarten to Grade 6 Girls Scouts gathered at the covered court to honor Mrs. Josefa Llanes Escoda, the esteemed foundress of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines. The program opened with a prayer led by Whina E. Acosta followed by sincere messages and prayers of intention. Pupils, teachers, and guests alike listened intently as the speaker expressed gratitude for Escoda’s life and legacy.
The girls sang the Girl Scouts Hymn and the Escoda Song, after which pupils from different grade levels presented their offertory gifts. Guided by their teachers, the children offered with joy and reverence. The celebration ended with a heartfelt closing prayer by Diya Brielle B. Lumongsod, leaving everyone inspired to live out the values of service, leadership, and faith that Mrs. Escoda stood for.

Soon after, the program transitioned into the Jiu jitsu Martial Arts Demonstration. Coaches Den and
Ron, along with a guest instructor, introduced themselves and warmly engaged with the pupils. Miss Kharla also joined in welcoming them, making the atmosphere even more lively. The coaches demonstrated various stances, poses, and techniques, which amazed and entertained the audience.
The highlight came when two Grade 6 pupils, Skyler and Crystal, volunteered to try the skills. With guidance, they performed courageously and succeeded, much to the delight of their classmates. The demonstration ended with laughter, applause, and a newfound interest among the pupils to learn more about martial arts.
It was truly a remarkable day at Niña Maria Learning Center – honoring the legacy of the past
through Escoda and embracing the strength and discipline of the future through Jiu jitsu.
