A Journey of the Heart: Deepening Our Encounter with God Through the Life and Spirit of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac

Sr. Lilian opened our encounter with the profound and tender prayer of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac, inviting us into the silence where God speaks most clearly. She reminded us that our relationship with God is never broken—it is a sacred bond that endures, even in times of confusion, failure, or wandering. In our solitude, God seeks us with the gentle persistence of a Shepherd, finding us and joyfully carrying us home upon His shoulders. This is no distant God, but One who rejoices in finding us, who carries our burdens with gladness. It was a stirring reminder: God never abandons His people.

We were then led into a time of simple yet profound sharing, followed by forty-five minutes of personal prayer and reflection. We asked ourselves: What can I offer before the Lord? What in the life of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac moved me, touched me, awakened something in me? With our journals as companions, we poured our reflections onto the page, each heart speaking its own language to God.

When we came together once more, we shared what had emerged. It was striking: though we meditated on the same life, the same saint, the same God, each of us had been moved in a unique and personal way. Yet beneath this diversity, there was unity. As we listened deeply to one another, we realized we were being drawn from many directions toward a single horizon—a deeper encounter with Christ, inspired by the courage, faith, and love of St. Jeanne.

In the second round, we echoed our sharings in a deeper spirit of silence. We allowed the words that had first struck us to settle in our souls, to take root. Sr. Tram captured it beautifully when she spoke of “
a fire that enkindles within the heart, never to be extinguished.” This fire became the symbol of our inner journey—a burning love, quietly transforming us from within.

Then came the third round: communion. Having listened, reflected, and been moved, we found ourselves gathered not only in conversation, but in spiritual communion. This sacred dialogue—this spiritual conversation—deepened the bonds among us. It was no longer simply a sharing of thoughts or even feelings, but a sharing of lives. In this sacred space, we arrived at a shared motto, one that reflects our common identity:

Faith. Wisdom. Service.
A trinity of values rooted in our call as disciples: grounded in Faith, guided by divine Wisdom, and lived out through loving Service.

Sr. Ranette then introduced us to the Article II of the Constitutions of the Company of Mary. With clarity and passion, she illuminated the Aim and End of the Order: a life lived at the heart of the Church, at the service of Faith, expressed through works of Justice. It felt as though the spirit of St. Jeanne was extending a hand, inviting us to step more fully into the mission—to be educators in faith, to form hearts and minds, and to transform society through love.

This encounter brought us not only to a convergence of mission, but to a convergence of hearts—a deep realization that God’s love is expressed in many ways, yet leads us always to the same source. Inspired by St. Jeanne’s faith, courage, and creativity, we came to understand her legacy: the education of the young, the accompaniment of the poor, and the promotion of human dignity, all rooted in deep union with Christ.

Together, we walked our own Emmaus journey, not alone, but side by side—sharing not only words, but our very being. In this communion, the life of St. Jeanne became not just a story we admired, but a path we now choose to follow.

We also reflected on how this experience affirmed our identity as part of the Lestonnac Laity Network—a family rooted in the spiritual heritage of St. Jeanne and the Company of Mary. As lay people, we recognized anew our vocation: to be active collaborators in the Church’s mission, to embody Gospel values in the ordinariness of life, and to evangelize not only by word, but by witness.

Each story shared was a testimony of grace:

  • Ariel Asparin’s prayerful family life became a quiet witness to God’s abiding love.

  • John Argie Escalante shared his dream to serve by educating and evangelizing the young—not only among Catholics, but even those beyond the faith, who thirst for God's love.

  • Fr. Herminio Hongayo’s loving yet challenging experiences rekindled his fire to serve with humility.

  • Shaddrach Daba’s journey through life’s struggles taught him that when Christ walks with us, no burden is too heavy.

  • Winston Gallinero’s awakening to charity and mercy drew him closer to the sacred dignity of each person.

  • Jan Joseph Rivera, like Martha, rediscovered the balance between service and prayer—returning to the feet of the Lord with a renewed heart.

These sacred stories, born of encounter and prayer, led us to a bold and joyful commitment: to be associated publicly and spiritually with the mission of the Company of Mary. Inspired by St. Jeanne’s charism and Ignatian spirituality, we opened our hearts to formation, to companionship, and to service. We accepted the invitation to evangelize the youth, to educate in love, and to be agents of hope in a wounded world.

With deep gratitude and renewed purpose, we embrace the path set before us.

Fides. Sapientia. Ministerium.
Faith. Wisdom. Service.
This is the fire that now burns within us—a fire that will never be extinguished.

Prayer: Lord, enkindle in us the unwavering spirit of St. Jeanne de Lestonnac, that we may walk in faith, seek wisdom, and serve with love all the days of our lives.

Gala of Talents: A Celebration of Faith and Giftedness

On July 18, 2025, Niña Maria Learning Center held a special celebration beginning with a Holy Spirit Mass to consecrate the new school year to God. It started at approximately 9:00 AM and was officiated by the Nazareth’s San Antonio de Padua Parish priest, Father Roberto “Jun” Balsamo, SSJV. Students from Kinder 1 to Grade 6 gathered in their respective seats. Grades 4,5, & 6 were seated at the front since they had already received their First Communion. Members of Lestonnac Flame Circle (LFC) also sat at the front, as they led the singing during the Mass.

The readers of the Mass were students from Grade 6 Maisonneuve, while the offertory was led by students from Grade 5 -Richelet. The Mass concluded around 9:45 AM, followed by a 20-minute break.

After the short break, the program resumed as announced by Teacher Kaye Chavez Villarico, adviser of Grade 5- Richelet, and Teacher Sheraldene Chavez Eleccion, adviser of Grade 6- Maisonneuve. All students returned to their seats for the much-awaited “Gala of Talents.” This event showcased the diverse talents of the students, who practiced diligently for their performances. The program began with a body prayer by Kinder 2, who presented the corresponding movements. Their performance was truly commendable.

The first individual performer was a student from Kinder 1 who sang “Pretty Little Baby” beautifully, showing her singing talent at such a young age. Next were the students from Grade 5, who showcased both singing and visual arts. The singers performed “A Million Dreams” while the others simultaneously did their impressive artwork. A Grade 3 student also did a solo singing of “A Million Dreams”. Then, Grade 3 pupils performed a simple dance.

Next, a Grade 6 brown-belter student exhibited her martial arts skills in Taekwondo. This was followed by a duet guitar performance by two male Grade 6 students.

Another highlight was the performance of “Blue” by Yung Kai, with a female student playing the keyboard and a male student accompanying her with vocals.

Grade 2 students then presented a dance performance, followed by Grade 1 pupils, who also showcased their dancing skills. Grade 4 students performed another dance number, and then Grade 3 students closed the dance segment with a lively routine.

Finally, the participants of the Niña Maria Arts Hub Music Summer Workshop were awarded with certificates after their heartfelt performance. The event concluded with a closing prayer and a flag retreat ceremony led by the Grade 5 pupils. The celebration was filled with joy and pride as students confidently displayed their God-given talents. Everyone left the event with smiles, proud hearts, and lasting memories of an inspiring day.
